If you can read this, then you have found out that the links to my website have changed a little bit. This is an embedded blog powered by Livejournal that I am testing out. The advantage that I would have is that I can add to my blog via the Livejournal website instead of using Dreamweaver or trying to edit the HTML code directly. This is more powerful than the latter and more flexible than the former. I invite your comments and suggestions. Since this is a free account, my editing and customizing of the website is limited unless I pay a fee, which I have not decided if I want to pursue that avenue.

It’s ALIVE. MOOOHAHAHAHHAHA
I now have a livejournal blog set up. The that blog is here Terry’s LiveJournal Blog. The nice thing about this one is that you can have a RSS feed and if you have a aggregator you can check quickly if I have update the web blog. As I mentioned before, I should be able to embed that blog onto this website, so that the two can be one. Although I chose the free version, I may ave to upgrade to get all the features that I need.
Jen is having a Mary Kay rally this Saturday and she is very excited about it. i have never been to one, so I am not sure what is going to go on there, but I would share I knew. I have been making arrangements for our crazy trip to Orlando and then New Orleans in January. Our National Sales Director (Jen’s goal) Sylvia Kalicak is having her National Debut on a Friday and Saturday. On Sunday, Mary Kay’s Leadership Conference (for Directors) starts in New Orleans. So what this means is that we are going to Fly to Orlando, on my old airline! We are going to participate in Sylvia’s Debut and then Drive Saturday night, stay at a hotel and then on Sunday night get into New Orleans for Jen’s conference. Eric is coming with us and since I can’t go to Leadership with Jen, Eric and I are going to tour around New Orleans!
I am hoping that my training for the Knoxville Marathon will start Saturday morning. If I don’t start soon, then I won’t have a chance at a good time. Good time, meaning my overall race time. I am sure that I will have a blast at the race and am really excited about finishing in Neyland Stadium. I wonder if I could some how pick up Eric right at the end and run with him over the finish line. They are supposed to show you on the Jumbotron and a race picture with Eric at the finish would be cool.
We have been slack with our Christmas card this year. I am just about done creating the picture for this year it has been long in the making. We have not had any great inspiration this year, but I think the card we have this year will suffice. More to come on that.
Hello?
Is anyone out there? I have created a livejournal as a test to determine whether I want to use this as my blog as opposed to my website. I was attracted to the fact that I can embed this blog into my website. I currently have my blog set on manual at my website and I do all the archiving, etc.
I like the fact that people can respond easier to my posts and would like to request that if you are to respond please include your name either via a registered user or signing the anonymous response. of course, if you are truly being anonymous please disregard my request.
Okay, now to see how this work. submit.
I just checked the spelling and I CANNOT believe that this place doesn’t have the word ‘blog’ as an okay word.
Ch-Ch-Ch-Changes
I think in the next few days you might see the website changed a little. First of all, the back ground that I have been using for the past 2 years is getting a little old, I may opt for something fresher. A larger change is that I have run across a blogging site that lets you embed your blog into you own website. The advantage that this has is that you can comment to specific blogs, not the archaic way that I have set up right now. The site is called livejournal and I am waiting to hear some info from someone who is using it before I decide it. The nice thing is that it has automatic RSS feeds. I know that at least ONE person is saying ” What is RSS and why is it hungry?”. Basically, you get an RSS aggregator and submit the Feed links into this program. The aggregator will check each of the links to see if there are any updates. This way you can check a number of different sites in one fell swoop. Yahoo is moving toward this, because you can get, for example, News Headlines as they are posted. In Firefox, which I use as my internet browser, I have a very small program called Sage that allows me to check my favorite feeds and click the latest and greatest.
I am cured of my Hand, Foot and Mouth Disease. I can now swallow and eat like normal. Of course, I lost 5 pounds with the disease so the lack of eating was probably a good thing. Seeing that last pregnancy, I gained somewhere close to 10 pounds, I am sure could loose some of the weight I have now. I was at 168 before I got sick, I am now back to 164 and I was at 153 last December 8th but I would settle for 158.
I just had my first beef with Firefox, when I use the header bar to navigate through my website, when I click on the link, the page I want is not put in the correct target frame. UGH! this means that I lose navigational ability when I use the header bar.
It’s Thursday already?
This blog update was supposed to be up for yesterday, but I got behind with a bunch of things and so, here it is today instead. This week has flown by, seems like it was just monday but, nope here it is on Thursday. Most of my time was consumed reconstructing my “about me” page (which is on the black strip above), so if you get an inkling to check it out after you are done, please feel free. I think I did an okay job on it being my first attempt at collage and mapping an image. If I really understood Photoshop, that would help.
Speaking of photo related stuff, I think that I am going to pursue photography as a hard-core hobby. I have really enjoyed having a small camera with me, plus having the ability to use Pete’s SLR camera. I will now have to learn about the flash and the proper way to use it. I have been inundating myself in photography websites, seeing techniques, content and lighting. I figured that I would stay pretty safe with nature photos, but would like to expand into head shot and stuff like that.
Jen has signed up one new member with another very interested, so that is very exciting. I have posted new picture albums of Eric, in case you went here directly.
I am getting ready for American Samoa, in fact I will begin to start lying out clothes and other things that I will take with me. Here is a picture of car that I saw on wednesday walking to the aquatic center. It made me miss the Mr. Arfns Mobile although, I never needed this much duct tape!

The last part of this post is about Callaway Landing which is located just down the road from me that is being threatened by the addition of the local waste water treatment plant.

[from their website] Present day Callaway’s Landing is a 50-acre remnant of a 154 year old, 600-acre river bottom family farm in Farragut/Concord, Knox County, Tennessee. It straddles the southern end of Concord Road with most of the farm within the corporate limits of the Town of Farragut, while the remainder resides in Knox County, in an area traditionally called Concord. The main farm house (known as the Big House) constructed in 1911, the marble barn of similar vintage, a post Civil War sharecroppers shack, a World War II vintage apartment built for and used in support of the defense department efforts in Oak Ridge, and a 1940′s style gas station and store stand as mute testimony to the sometimes flowery history of the farm known as Callaway’s Landing.

Fellowship of the [Wedding] Ring
I have been on a quest the past few weeks, it seems that about 3 or 4 weeks ago, I could not find my wedding ring. It was no where to be found, not in any of my bags, not in any of it’s “homes” in the house. It’s true home is in a small petri dish in our telephone desk, but was not there. I looked in places where it might have been, or had fallen, but no such luck. So why, you ask that I did not have it on? well, I do not wear when i exercise, I have helped a few friends look for rings that flew off during soccer matches. I even lost my ring at a statistics department volleyball game back in 1997/1998. I usually take it off when I get home because that way I will put it back into its home and I will know where it is at all times. One of our friends, who is getting married, commented that he shouldn’t have to wear a wedding band, since I didn’t have one. I had to confess that I made a faux pas, that I had “misplaced” it temporarily. Where, I hadn’t a clue. So, just by writing of this blog so far, you have probably guessed that I have found it. My biggest fear was that I had put it in a plastic grocery bag, as I do from time to time to carry workout clothes, and that I inadvertently threw it away because I thought it was empty. But you guessed right, I did find it. I found it in my desk, in a drawer that sometimes drop my cell phone and keys into if I do not want to carry them outside to lunch. In the drawer, I also have a baggie that I am collecting pull tabs from aluminum soda cans for one of the ladies here at work. For some reason, i decided to lift up the bag to size up how many I had collected so far. When I pulled up the bag, there it was, the ring just sitting there. “one of these things, is not like the others, one of these things do not belong”. Excitement and relief set in, I had finally found my ring. Not that I, personally, need some sort of reminder that I am married, but that the ring is precious to me. A little less stress in my life. Oh, have I told you that since I hadn’t worn it for 3-4 weeks, it’s bothering me while I type this…
Eric woke up really early this morning, like 6:15am or something crazy like that. His schedule is to wake up at 7am, right when I am leaving, but not today. Today, we think that he was hungry and that woke him up. Be brought him his milk, which right now is enriched soy milk because its cheap, and he drank that in the dark. We were hoping that it being dark, he would go back to sleep. Nope, he played in the dark for 45 minutes, while daddy had little bits of sleepiness.
In another act of slowness, I have Eric’s pictures organized and almost ready for some web albums, so the wait won’t be too much longer! You can also expect some new changed to the overall website in the near future. I am going to take some things off of it. I’ll try not to mess up the links to bad, just in case you have it bookmarked.
The Kitchen is Downtown Tokyo
09/21/04 – The Kitchen is Downtown Tokyo
Let me update you on a few things that Eric has done over the past few days. First of all, he is not totally walking yet, and when he does walk it is in a straight line. This weekend, Jen and I were about 4 feet apart from each other having Eric go back and forth between us. Sometimes, he would take 2 steps and then fall forward, other times he would make all the way and hug us. On one occasion, he did a 180 turn while next to Jen without any help. Perhaps it was the security of knowing that Jen was right there that encouraged him to do that. He is also squatting too. He does this mostly in the tub to pick up toys out of the water. Which scares me every time because I think that he is about to “send a submarine” into the water… which reminds me of the movie Caddyshack with Bill Murray and the pool scene.
All the drawers in the kitchen, except for the very top ones, are fair game to Eric. He can reach into the highest drawer when he is on his tippy-toes and can blindly grab whatever is in there. I can’t tell you the number of times that he has mashed his finger because he closes the drawer on a hand. He doesn’t really cry but gets upset, I have his upset face mastered and hope to catch it on camera, and once you free his hand he goes right back to the drawer. Thank goodness this is not fire. Needless to say when he is done with kitchen, Godzilla would be proud.
This past Sunday was the Twin’s birthday party. Our little monster ate almost an entire piece of cheese pizza! The one thing he did learn to do at the party was drink from a straw. They had juice boxes for the kids and we offered some to Eric. Shortly afterwards, he was drinking like a champ! He also learned that dish soap in not necessarily tasty.
Tuesdays are bummer because I don’t get to see him since I leave before he wakes up and my tutoring doesn’t get out until after he is gone to bed. I just get to peek in on him and hear second hand stories about his crazy adventures that day.
My running is coming along nicely, I ran in my subdivision last night. A 5 mile run that was close to my PR time for that route. 45:32 in a very hilly course with some hills that are not very kind. I am not sore at all from my run Saturday or yesterday. Since I have a chunk of time before my tutoring appointment, I think that I am going to get some easy mileage in today, maybe run across campus or something.
You may have noticed that I have added “titles” to the dates of my posts. I have been surfing through the BLOGOSPHERE on the internet, primarily at the site Blogger, which is supported by Google. I am contemplating moving my blog to having it supported over there. There are a few advantages, one would be that I would not need my JumpDrive to easily update my blog. Two, the blogs would be archived much better than what I have now, the link at the bottom of this page or the ‘news’ link. Third, it would have a larger audience. On the other hand, I would have to remember more passwords, etc and since I am getting old, that might not be a good thing
Fighting to stay healthy
I drank myself silly yesterday. Now, I know what you are thinking… it’s was all non alcoholic beverages. I wrote that I had a cold coming on, mainly because my throat was a little sore when I woke up. At work, I drank 3-4 Diet Cokes, 3 quarts of water and a cup of coffee. When I got home I drank another quart of water, 24oz of water and some orange juice. Today, I have had 4 diet cokes + some at lunch, quart of water and almost 2 quarts of orange juice. Needless to say, I have been going to the bathroom about every 30 minutes. My throat is still (very) slightly sore, but not as bad as yesterday. Tonight will be another regiment of liquids. I did not work out yesterday and since Jen will be having a class at the house tonight, I will forego running today. Thursday’s are my speedwork days, but I don’t want to expose myself to getting worse. If I feel better tomorrow, then I will go swimming, but not do anything strenuous.
I got to work on the Best of Boppy web album, not that you think that I will ever get it done (it’s been 3 months now), but I just have to add some relative comments to the pictures and it is done! Tomorrow will be Eric’s 15 month anniversary, so he will get another boppy pictures. At least the single ones are a hell of a lot easier to construct ad upload.
Oh, I also bought a small toy that will allow me to do some work on the webpages here at work. More on that later.
The weather here has been beautiful for the past few days. It has been sunny, during the day and slightly chilly at night, maybe high 40s/low 50s.
Website Back
We have our domain name back, so Jenandterry.com will be up in the next day or so. We have to wait for all the transfers to go through. I will post something here and will send out another mass email letting people know. Also, Tripod is reducing space on this site, so I will be taking down the pictures until I can transfer everything to the new website. Thanks for understanding.
Websites Difficulties
Jen and I are having difficulties getting our domain name changed right now, so please be patient. When we get our domain name back, we will have plenty of space to add more content to both sites. I am looking forward to adding some more pictures and all that funstuff.
