Theme

I think that I have narrowed it down to 2 different themes, one is gray and the other orange. Each has things that I like and don’t like and I think I can tweak the theme enough to make them to my liking. So now I would like to collect some data from you. Which theme is easier to read, looks better on the screen? Does one of them makes you want to puke? Any suggestions for the picture on the screen?

Here are the candidates (in no particular order):

Grayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy

and

Orangie

I guess it would have helped to include some of the typing of a post in the picture, now wouldn’t of it?

Out with the Old…

I am about to methamorphis from tahiggins to planet3rry

Wah-LAH!!!

I am now a beautiful beautiful butterfly!!!

I set it up so that your tahiggins links still work, so you don't have to change anything… this is for continuity.

Paid

I went ahead and now have a paid LiveJournal Account. Although you won't see much difference, I can do a lot more behind the scenes. One thing that you can do now is get to me through a subdomain. instead of:

www.livejournal.com/users/tahiggins
you can get me at
tahiggins.livejournal.com

tomorrow, I am going to go in for the change to planet3rry

Moving

I just received payment for some freelance research and writing that I did this year. On Radar detectors nonetheless. Anyway, I think I am going to fund a few changes for myself. I think that I am going to Upgrade to the LiveJournal Premium service and then change the tahiggins to planet3rry. I think this won't affect you the reader and it will migrate everything I have established with little to no headache. Also, it will allow me to have 15 pretty pictures of me noggin instead of the 3 that you can sample at this point. It will allow me to show my mood!

Also, I'm looking into some hosting. With the premium LJ I can embedded the LJ much more effortlessly than what I have now over at my section on our family website. I'd probably put my photoblog over there too… it'll free space for Eric and Ryan Pictures!

So that may happen in the near future. I will keep you posted!

Renaming Token

I am looking for some wisdom… so you out there that read this… lend me your ear (I mean eyes).

ever since I became happy with the name planet3rry, I have had the ambition to make everything else. This blog title went from the concise “The Bloggity Blog Blog of Terry Higgins” to “PLANET3RRY”. My photoblog is title | P | L | A | N | E | T | 3 | R | R | Y |. My Blogger account, so that I can post as a user and not anonymously is planet3rry. I registered a gmail account as such… blah blah blah.

So, I am thinking that I wanted to change this from tahiggins to planet3rry to keep with the theme. It would cost me at least $15 to do it… or I could just register that name and “move” everything over to that site. That would involve some work and I do not know how to transfer the comments. I am also contemplating going to the paid livejournal account and/or registering the domain name planet3rry.com.

So any thoughts… the total package, Website, Paid account and rename would be just under $100. Is it worth to migrate?

Code Breaker

SUCCESS!!! with only minutes to spare. Seeing that | P | L | A | N | E | T | 3 | R | R | Y | is updated everyday at noon, I only had about 6 minutes to spare. Luckily I had pictures still in my Dimage from last week, so you actually get to see relatively new pictures today… what a treat.

Apparently, there was a cookie problem in the code, or rather my browser. So, I had to access the admin login page via online, change the code briefly. Once that worked, I could see the admin screen and rest my name and password. I changed the code back, cleared the cookies, and logged in the normal way and it worked. Sweet… so a new picture is up and I am off to run.

A new blog, well not really

okay, I have been toying around with a free blog software and have decided to move the house stuff over there. This way, Jen can have writing access and can add blogs at her leisure. The nice thing is that with the free blog software Word Press you can have it reside in your own domain. Therefore the new website for the whole Higgins Family is blog.jenandterry.com I will still be updating this site as it is my running journal and will link over to interesting stuff that happens at the house.

You can still comment on the funny and zany happenings at Schooner. Plus get the RSS feed to keep up wih new posts.

AS for running content in this post… it will be very little. I didn't exercise yesterday at all, which I guess was okay for the most part. I am running today before tutoring. This will be the last Math Lab session for a while, so I do not know how much Tuesday/Thursday running I am going to be able to do. I hope that we can keep the babysitters over the summer and I can keep the shorter, faster distances fresh, even (with my fingers crossed) with the new baby.

Sniffles

I figured that I should update my blog sometime this week. After all it is Thursday. And to boot, it is St Patty's Day and even though I won't be drinking green beer, I am going to drink a beer from a Green Can! So it all works out.

Tuesday I went walking around the track on Tuesday. Marty met me there and we walked around the track talking about his preparations for the marathon this Sunday. I tried to give him a few pointer mainly because he will be on his own this marathon. I originally was going to run with him and pace him for as long as I could so that he could get a 4:15 time. He thinks that he'll come in around 4:30-4:45 but I think that he is closer to a 4:15 and it wouldn't surprise me much if he is closer to 4:00. We will see on Sunday.

I know what my job is going to be for Sunday. I am going to be a course monitor at the intersection of Forest Ave and 20th. It is around the 11.4-11.5 mile mark during the race. I am excited because now I will be able to see the Full and the Half runners. Here is a picture of where I will be on the course

Jen and I made a list of the words that Eric knows. We came up with 30 words that he can say, not all the words are clear, such as “SpongeBob” sounds like “BunBob” but it is a specific word for a specific item.

Jen will be in Charlotte North Carolina for Mary Kay Career Conference Friday and Saturday. It's going to Boy's Days Out. I don't have anything concrete in plans, but I figure we will run some errands around town, plus go to the Marathon Expo on Saturday.

I found a discrepancy in our website with the way the pictures albums are stored. I am now having to reload most of the picture albums. For some reason, Dreamweaver does not want to auto change all the links, so I am having to do them myself. Luckily, DW can tell me which links are broken and if there are similar pages then it will fix them all at once. This helps cut down on time, but even with that I am only to Oct 2003 right now. This might take a few days.

Website Changes

Today, I made some minor website changes to the main jenandterry.com website and my section of that site. In jenandterry, I put a current picture of Eric (January in New Orleans) along with a few webalbums that I had on my cruzer drive. I have about 15 more web albums to create and upload, plus pictures on Jen's camera that still need to be downloaded, sorted, and edited. With the computer programs these days, it doesn't take too awful long to create the web albums, but to keep all the pictures organized, it does. I use Web Picture Creator and Dreamweaver to update the websites. My blog, this thing, I edit this online at livejournal.com and it's linked to my part of the website (www.jenandterry.com/terry). This way, I do not have to load up Dreamweaver every time I want to edit my blog.

I ran some Yassos last night with Marty Velas around Tom Black Track. I was able to hold with him at a 4 minute 800m pace (about an 8 min mile) for four laps. The idea of a Yasso (named after a dude named Bart Yasso) is that you can predict your marathon time by how long it takes you to run 800m intervals. The protocol for this type of training is as follows: You want to run a 4 hr marathon, then you want to run your 800m in 4 minutes, then followed by 4 minutes of recovery jogging, then a 4 min 800m, recovery, repeat. This is an excellent interval training, which you can do about once a week, building on the number of repeats that you do. The Runner's World article about Yasso 800s is at this link.

Didn't get to see Eric yesterday with tutoring. Such is life on Tuesdays, but I will when I get home be on Eric duty for the night as Jen makes some calls in the early evening. Wednesday is our date night and the movie that we'll be watching tonight is Shrek 2. Heard it was good.

I forgot the cable to my camera today, else I would have picture of the finisher's medal Myrtle Beach this past weekend.

I have been active in the posting on the Knoxville Marathon Forum. One thing that I did today was to look back at the past 10 years on March 20th to see any patterns in the weather. Well, there has been precipitation for the last 6 year on March 20th. So, will it hold that it will rain on us on March the 20th, or will it be dryer. DUN-DUN-DUN…
