A few Things

Today is cold and rainy. Well, it’s not all that cold, but it is rainy. I wasn’t as sore today even though I had a fairly difficult session yesterday trying to cope with why a 9:20 mile was kicking my butt. I am not worried, just a little inquisitive why it would be that difficult. By the end of the run, I was feeling better, so another 3 miles in for February. March Mileage should be much better.

I’ve picked up Show Girls now to add to my POT. Of course when I picked up some Las Vegas Sands (LVS), they decided to rally a bit and so those gold diggas sweated me out of about $100 today. Oh and POT was down for me too… 300 bones. Oi! However, I made some of my money back from ICE (ice baby) which is now moving in my direction. I love it when a plan comes together… too bad it took a side detour and $2000! HA! I’m back to under a grand and I haven’t lost it if I don’t sell it. This was a case of improper position sizing. So as any woman who contest too… SIZE does matter… and as men try to come back with… PERFORMANCE is crucial. So lessoned learned and I don’t planned on getting burned, might be a few days before I get my money back.

I’ve lost my MP3 player that I use in my car to listen to podcasts… it has the pause feature so that if I turn the unit off it knows right where I left off and I don’t have to rewind/fast forward to get to where I was. I’ve been without for about 10 days and I have looked EVERYWHERE! It must have fallen somewhere I don’t usually go or worse… accidentally in the trash. Anyway, I have been wandering around letting podcasts build up. I typically listen to podcasts in the car, as to avoid having to listen about sports for the entire trip. Here in Tennessee it’s UT this and UT that and after about 15 minutes, you know what the deal is.

Well, I had an epiphany yesterday that I could use my Palm T|X as a MP3 player… DUH! So, I’ve loaded up the Palm and will now get back to the regularly scheduled listening.

Speaking of podcasts, Gravity@1053 will be recorded this weekend. I need to refine my material and script for the show, but it should be out on Monday at the latest.

Me Likee POT

Yes, another Sex, Drugs and Rock N Roll reference.

I tried to buy some POT yesterday, but I was turned down because my dealer closed shop at 4:00pm and I didn’t have the “secret code” to get some after hours “paper”. So, I queued in an order to make the sale this morning at 9:30am at $770 for a pound contract.

At about 9:29am, I had a change of heart and decided that I wouldn’t buy any POT right now, I would wait to see what the street value of the POT would be. Good thing that I did because it dropped… In less than an hour the street value had dropped $3 an ounce! Having a Bullish feeling on this I picked me up a shiny contract (because that’s ALL that I had left in my pockets) for $400. Already a “government” savings of $370!

And now I am up $270 on the “contract” that I bought and had I gotten the one yesterday I would still be jonesin’ with a $100 loss. But don’t OOH&AHH over this quick turn of some cash, cause I’m still hurting from a contract I bought earlier this week at $910 a pound contract… But I think some “paper” on POT will be just fine in the future.

At least with this POT you don’t have worry about the 420s from the Po-lice!

You did WHAT?

potashAmong other things, I bought some POT today. Yup. and I am going to turn it over for some profit too. POT is looking pretty good right now and so I knew I needed some. (of course, now as I get ready to send this… POT is being hazardous to my profit line. *sigh*)

But what I really wanted to tell you is that I did this new craze that is sweeping the nation, circulation running! With a 10 day absence of pounding the pavement, I strapped on my Harmonys and headed out at lunchtime for a 3ish mile run.

It went fairly well, I wasn’t expecting very much from the run and I got what I expected. I am not sure of my split times yet, but I did stop to walk a few times as well as watch the sea gulls fight over stuff floating in the river at the turn around point.

I think for the rest of week, I will just run easy paces and knock off “the rust”on my legs and then jump back into regular training next week. Seeing that I am not doing any half marathon on Feb 16th, I can just work on building mileage for Whitestone 30k on Mar 2nd. Plus start getting in some swim workouts and other brick (two discipline) workouts in preparation for Triathlon season.

T3rryfied

Well, I have the theme just about done. There are a few minor things here and there that I need to fix, but I think it is at least coherent enough to function for most uses. I don’t think that I will win any award for the design or even the coding… but it’s good enough for me.

I actually restructured the code enough that I decided to rename it and make me the author. I do credit the original author and still link to her website. However, since I changed the design to incorporate 3 columns and changed the style a bit. I dunno…

GRRRRR… I just check one of the pages so that I could TAG this post correctly and I notice something ELSE that I have to fix… *SIGH*

So my Terry Weekend has started… the kids, My Lovely and Talented Wife and our Au Pair are traveling down to Loris, South Carolina for the weekend with Lolo and Lola. It’s going to be JAM Packed with fun and excitement chores and more chores. Today, I will do all the stuff that needs time to set, cure and otherwise be untouched by 4yo and 2yo paw prints.

I was thinking that I might do a series of posts that highlight the projects. Of course, if I have any super secret projects that I want to hide from My Lovely and Talented Wife, then I can’t show those… since she reads my blog now.

It’s a shame that I am not training for anything specific this month, because this weekend would be a great time to get a super duper long run or other crazy exciting adventure. I do have the 10 miler at the end of the month, but I’m going for a specific time, that’s a base training run… so no need to sweat over that. I may take The Loud and Lovable Skipper Doodle out on a trail run… he’d like that.

Other site enhancements will be a Glossary plugin that My Lovely and Talented Wife found. This way, all the nicknames that I use… you’ll be able to see who I am talking about.

And I did get the GIMP to do my wishes… I just had to take an extra step from how I perform the same task in Potatoshop… once I figured that out, the picture changing went quickly. I also had a chance to upgrade to GIMP 2.4 which I was still using a GIMP 2.2.somthing. So now I have all the pretty buttons… awwwwwwwww.

I’ve done really well on my stock picks this go around… Seening that the Stock Market has been rolling over to previous lows, I have banked on this with some PUT options that have been very profitable. Most of them expire today and I hate to see them go… but alas, that it one of the characteristics of Options is that they expire unlike holding the Common Stock which you keep until you sell.

I’m hoping to get some other posts out today… I have Christmas Photo Safari pictures ready to upload… I am awaiting approval from my niece to allow me to post her pictures.

I’m going to be doing some Gluten Free Mad Scientist stuff in the kitchen this weekend. As much I as I appreciate my “Little Helpers”, when you are doing something for the first time, The Maestro needs some space to work his kitchen mojo.

Lunchtime Sit

I decided today that I would sit during lunch and catch up on some stock stuff. Seeing if there is anything I want to consider, or not. I am anticipating closing out my Kohls (KSS) option today, that will have gotten me about 5% in 2 months. I can’t say that it was the smartest pick seeing that for a while there it was a 38% LOSS for a number of days. Not until the past 10 days did it come back to break even and just today it has been in the green pretty much all day (something new). I hoping the same for my Home Depot (HD) option, another correct trend pick, BUT poor timing. This to was another huge huge loss plays, but now things are starting to get better. Now it’s just a 4% LOSS. I thought I would “stick it” to my Mortgage Company Countrywide (CFC) and make some money… which I did, for a day… before the earning announcement and I got smack! The company says that we lost a lot more money than we were expecting but we have ways to cash in some liquid assets and next quarter is going to be better. And that makes the stock go UP 4 points. I betting that it comes right back down… which it has today, some.

I’m also working at making my running log a little more user friendly and more complete. I never really kept a running journal at all until I started training for my first marathon. That’s almost a year and a half of the only record of my running was my finishing times at road races. Then I started keeping track of my mileage for the day. Then after a while of doing this, I started adding what shoes I was wearing when I was running. I did just miles and shoes until mid 2005, when I switched to a dedicated Excel spreadsheet as my log and then I started tracking average pace per workout. I even expanded to have a comment section that told me where I ran.

I then went to add on a Basic shoe tracker, that keeps me up to date with my shoes and their life expectancy. I added a weather column, just for giggles. If you have ever noticed the picture on the side of the blog that is linked to my Buckeye Outdoor account, this is my online running log. Here I can track individual split times when I record them, something my Excel spreadsheet isn’t set to do. So, I have been slowly adding the unformatted data to the Excel Running Log and then I will have Ben upload my past data to Buckeye Outdoors and I will have everything online. I just have 1999 and 1998 to add and I will be ready for upload to the mother ship!
