Here’s the latest, but not the greatest episode of Gravity@1053′, if you don’t already subscribe with a podcatcher/media player (e.g. iTunes, Media Monkey, Juice, etc).

In this episode, I am unveiling my 2008 Fall Marathon Selection. However, it will be modified slightly, so this ended up being a short episode because of that. Didn’t want to ramble on and on about the marathon when it was going to change some. So here is the episode. I am going to post the “update” on my fall marathon next week.

[ed: Podpress is not working for some reason... and I don't know why, so there is no player in this post for this episode at the current time. You'll have to click the link above.]

I know! I Know! This is like the 3rd podcast and it hasn’t taken 6 months. What’s even freakier is that I have audio for the next episode too! Of course, after that I got nothing. HA! but there will be something. I think I have gotten excited by listening to all the new podcasts. I am right now in a Confessions marathon. I have been capturing the feeds of the new running podcasts that I hear about.

This episode is the audio accompaniment to the Expo 10k Race Report. It goes through volunteering pre-race and my running (or attempt) of the race. You’ll have to let me know what you think of my fall.

Your podcatcher (iTunes, Media Monkey, WinAmp, etc.) should have a new episode of Gravity@1053′ waiting for you.

Now, I have to apologize upfront at the sound quality. One of the big problems with using rechargeable batteries is that they leak power, so I find that my battery operated devices are dead when I want (or need) to use them. So, as I mention at the beginning of the episode, the MP3 player that I grabbed was the only thing with (working) batteries. I tried to use Audacity to take out the road noise, but I am a fledgling with that program and the result was a metallic sounding episode… which would be cool for a Sci-Fi episode.

I am also trying out Podpress for the first time with this post… it’s supposed to be cool. Let’s see if I can get it right the first time.

    Further Behind

You can take that whole thing that I said about having the podcast ready and chuck it out the window. My goodness. If I forget my microphone ONE more time, that’ll be one more time that I forgot my microphone. Okay… going to Plan G.

If I can use my mobile studio tomorrow morning, that should give me most of the content that I need for the podcast. Then at lunch, I can record the rest while I go running and that will cover the audio that I wanted to record this past weekend in the race I didn’t run: Whitestone 30k. Given that we have a meeting tomorrow, I would say that I might have it either early afternoon or Thursday.

But, all I can say is that it is still “on it’s way”… HEY, THE CHECK IS IN THE MAIL!

    *****************

I totally ate a pint of Kung Pao Chicken (and Rice) last night. Talk about a friggin’ oinker. I was in a blah mood and I went out and picked up Chinese for our “date night”. I just couldn’t get enough. Back in the days when I could have Gluten, I would love long time some General Tsao’s cat chicken or Orange horse Beef. Jokes about cats and dogs in Chinese food is funny over used. But I “settled” for Kung Pao. Well, I was in a treat because it was actually spicy hot. Well, not terribly spicy hot but enough that once you got through the whole pint, you were feeling a little tingle in your mouth. However, I don’t know what my fortune is… can’t eat them.

    ******************

Wordless Wednesday… I have never played this weekly themed post. But tomorrow I will be. It’s set to post in the morning

    ******************

I would talk about my trading today… put it’ll bore you. It was down for me… by alot. I made a silly noob mistake. But tomorrow is a new day!

    ******************

On a sports topic, The Immortal Brett Favre has decided to retire from football as the Multi-MVP, ProBowl, Super Bowl Winning Quarter Back of the Green Bay Packers. I have him on my goal poster, not as some icon that I worship, but as a reminder to Do enjoy what you do. If there was anyone that loved playing football, it was the gunslinger Favre. If he was winning or losing (more often when he was winning) you could tell from the smile on his face that he was enjoying himself. THAT’S how I want to work! Working at UT is not that long term piece to the puzzle. Sure it’s fine right now. But I want to work from home, with MLATW and the kids. I don’t want to report to The Man, because I have to or need to. So now Favre rides off into the sunset of his football career into whatever he is going to do next, but you know, whatever that is going to be… it’ll be FUN to Favre.

    *****************

MLATW posted a very interesting post about the Aspergian Parent/Child relationship. On there there is very basic (you might be an Aspergian if) list of “possible” warning signs. I wanted to bring some attention to this because. Even if you don’t have Aspergers, you may see something about your parent and how it was growing up. Aspergers has been around for a long time but until recently it didn’t have a diagnosis to help explain, why people act a certain way. People around my age (30-sexy) are just now becoming aware that they may have Aspergers (like me) because of diagnosi of kids. We might recognize that “hey, I think my [FILL IN BLANK] may of have (or God rest their souls) had Aspergers or something else.” I dunno… I though it might help.

Welcome Monday. The weekend has come and gone and to some extent, I wonder where it went. Didn’t seem like it was long enough, but I think that was because MLATW was under the weather and so all of our plans were changed. MLATW has the persistent and residual crud that we all had in our household. We’ve been treating it with expectorant and cough suppressant (which seems a little backwards to me, but it does work). Hopefully sometime this week we will be back to normal at least in some regard.

Actually, we start off today with a rescheduled Doctor’s appointment and having to reschedule a financial planning meeting. So, okay, maybe this week won’t be quite normal. At least The Elder will FINALLY have a full week of school.

It also means that I will have a normal week as well (I think). Except for Friday. More on Friday in a moment. This week, I can finally get back into my workout routine. Actually, I can implement my new workout routine to incorporate brick workouts at lunch. I just have to think of what days would be appropriate for what.

Today, I ran 4 miles around a 9:10 pace. This pace is still pretty difficult for me, although I was able to make the 4 miles with only 1 short walk break. Doesn’t surprise me that I had to take the walk break, but I was happy that it wasn’t until past the halfway point in my run. That’s encouraging.

Due to some technical difficulties, Gravity@1053′ will be pushed to a release date sometime this week. Hopefully tomorrow. Since my schedule changed, I didn’t get to record my audio as planned. Then, I forgot my mic today, so I could record today as planned either! I’ll use my mobile recording studio (the car) to get most of the audio tomorrow, then fill in the rest at lunch and post production in the afternoon. Sorry for the delay, but you get what you pay for!

This coming up Friday, we are taking The Younger to get his Luke Skywalker Hand Operation.

lukeActually it’s not quite as cool as this. He has trigger finger and he will get that “fixed”. Basically if you pretend that you finger is a gun and you make your thumb the “trigger”… The Younger’s thumb doesn’t straighten. So, what they have to do is make 2 incisions on the base of his thumb then take a sharp-pointy thing and run it all inside to disengage the cartilage or whatever is there so that his thumb will function correctly. Hardest is part is to post surgery when the Luke The Younger is supposed to rest, he’s our in-home maniac stunt person. He’s already a hitter of sorts, so once he realizes that his cast is a great weapon for melee combat (damage +2) general walloping, he’s going to be hard to stop.

I forgot to put a post about the latest episode of Gravity@1053′ (that’s my running podcast) that I uploaded on Friday January 4th. Gravitational Pull

So what’s the status of the podcast Gravity@1053′?

Well, it’s on hold right now. I had every intention of making the next episode my Worldwide Half Marathon Experience and that didn’t happen. It’s been a month now. I even worked on editing some of the audio, but alas, it’s still in mid-edit.

I have a few ideas for upcoming episodes and now that things are starting to come more into focus, I think that I can start working on new episodes. However, I have to go to a minimal editing format or else there won’t be much in the way of episodes. So, stay tuned (or check your RSS feed).

    Hear my voice

Filed under: General; Tagged as: ,

Would you like to hear my voice? I can't say that I have the most manly deep, “hellllo baby” voice in the entire world. In fact, when nervous, I can sound down right… womanly. It is not uncommon to be called Ms. Higgins on the phone. I used to get upset when it happened. Now I use it to my advantage. Typically, if I call the person on that I am “No, in fact, MR. Higgins”, I can gain superiority and generally have an easier time with my problem especially if it's a customer service related problem.

The best is when I don't call them on being a dude and refer to my wife Jennifer. That sometimes throw them for a loop. And if I ever make the mistake of getting the incorrect gender on the phone, I don't care… because I understand.

Anyway… here my voice. If you are so inclined on hearing what Planet3rry sounds like, you can go to
http://www.steverunner.com/ which is the home of my favorite Podcast and give it a listen, it could become yours too. You don't have to be a runner to appreciate the life lessons that Steve talks about in his podcast. In fact he might use his Jedi Mind trick and you will become a runner (these are not the droids your looking for…). Listen to (by clicking the link) or download episode #025 called “Revolutions and Resolutions”. It's right there on the main page, so you can't miss it. I would encourage you to listen to the whole podcast, but if you don't you can find me around the 26:14 mark. I made two Phedippidations promos for him as Christmas Presents and he was kind enough to include one of them in the episode.

Who knows, even I might have a knack for a podcast. Perhaps when I retire, which may be sooner than later, more on that soon!
