Smite Thee

You know it seems that sometimes, I have a way of losing things like my wedding ring, car keys, and oh did I mention my wedding ring? But some how they always find their way back to me. Well, I have a similar story about my Palm T|X.

I realized yesterday that I didn’t have my Palm with me when I wanted to put some appointments into the calendar. I chaulked it up as I left on my desk at work. On the way to work, I began to think that I cleaned my desk and that I didn’t remember seeing my Palm. Uh-Oh.

Once I got to the office, sure enough, my fears were confirmed. There was NO Palm to be found. Now, I don’t keep any significant information on my Palm, so I wasn’t worried about someone gaining access of my stuff and having a shopping spree or anything like that. But the fact that it was gone was disheartening enough.

I checked the normal places and even a few that I rechecked as if my Palm had mastered teleportation and was just out on an excursion. I was in the process of clearing out some of the 20+ notifications on my Facebook page when I had a strange number on my mobile phone… let that go to voicemail. I hada new voicemail. Upon listening to it, the person who found my Palm was letting me know that it was safe and that if I call her back we could arrange me picking it up.

At the time, I was sending Good Karma on Facebook and thought, “Huh, a little ironic, don’t you think (yeah, I really do think).” So that was the inspiration for this post. But then (even without alcohol) I began to get a little philosophical on Karma, doing Good and the like. Seeing that a common punny bumper sticker is

I was wondering if Karma was something that I could or should even mention, or I wasn’t the right religion to speak on it.So the difference in religions practicing Karma & Dogma, have some history between them. I tried to do a quick Wiki search on it, but you know how me talking about Numbers makes you all dizzy, this is what I felt with this religious/philosophical/theology thing.

Going with how one of our friends talk about Karma much like a bank account… “I’m short some Karma, so I have to go do a good deed”. But then if you go with the Law of Attraction, you don’t have a balance of Karma, but that if you think good things will happen, they will… but there’s is not a tally of bad things waiting to smite thee.

There’s also the secular, “What Goes Around, Comes Around”

“You reap what you sow when you plant the seed

What goes around, comes around”
-“What Goes Around Comes Around” Beastie Boys

I’m most familiar with the Christianity version of this… ‘Do Unto Others as They Do Unto You’ aka The Golden Rule. Plenty of other religions, cults, sects, atheists, agnostics, etc have this “The Ethic of Reciprocity”. So, if I would try to return someone’s Palm, then the odds are that someone return my lost Palm.

And that is how it went. I have my Palm T|X back, safe and sound.
