I still have to type up what I did today, but really, I don’t want to. I’d much rather talk about the running based stuff that I have been working on for the next few days.
My last post talked about my Gnatty run, but that was precursor to what I am going to do this weekend. We have an appointment on Saturday morning, but it should be really short and it’s on part of the island near the national park.
So, this is what I have been thinking. I’d really like to get a good long run. Even though I don’t have the family obligations here, I am not running as much as when I am in Tennessee. I guess because we are busy and the treadmill bores me.
So, Saturday morning, I want to go to the National Park and go to the top of the mountain. No, it’s really at the crest of the mountain. But I also want to run part of it. But, the course is either all up or all down. And it’s only 4 miles. AND, the trail is basically an old truck road, so it’s not like a trail in the Smoky mountains.
But, if I do something strenuous on Saturday, then I can’t do much on Sunday. I would like to run at least 13.1 miles (the half amrathon distance). If I thought that I could, but I think I might, I would like to try the marathon distance.
The problem with the marathon distance is that I don’t have the endurance training for it but if I ran/walk it, I could probably do the mileage in 4.5-5 hours. But, I would need to do it Sunday morning AND I would have to do it 5am or so (sunrise) in the morning.
I do have Sat & Sun morning of the next weekend as well to do all these things… it’s just a matter of figuring out what to do and when to maximize the effort I have to put on my part. Plus all the running will be core of my next podcast as well. So, I have to run to get that episode out.
