Contest

I received an email yesterday and just glanced over it not thinking about it. Upon further inspection, it’s a contest! A writing contest and the prize is a free bike! Rock on…

Have you ever thought about biking to work, but you didn't have a
bike? Do you want to save time and money by running errands on a bike?
All you have to do is write an essay explaining all of the ways you
would use a new bicycle as an alternative to your car. The winner will
get a new commuter bicycle that retails for up to $850, complete with
fenders, a rack, and carrying bag/panniers!

Your essay should describe your biking ideas in 350 to 500 words. You
must be at least 18 years old and live in Knox, Blount, Anderson,
Sevier, or Jefferson County to be eligible. Entries must be received by
September 22, 2006, and the winner will be announced on October 2.

If you want to win a new commuter bike, send your essay to: Knoxville
Regional Bicycle Program, 400 Main St, Suite 403, Knoxville, TN 37902,
or fax to: (865) 215-2087 or e-mail to kelley.segars@knoxtrans.org

Sponsored by the Smart Trips program, promoting alternatives to driving
alone, and Harper's Bike Shop.

So, I have a few things to think about on how I am going to win this free bike. I have been wanting to try to bike to work. I figured, given the distance and terrain, it would take me around 1 – 1.5 hrs to bike to work from my house. The Nice thing is that the local buses all have bike racks, so I would get a ride back to about 3 miles from my house.tags: Contest, Knoxtrans
