No wonder this seems fast…

Yesterday, I swam. But I did not post the split times. One reason could have been that I had to leave work early and I did not have time to post. Okay, make that the only reason.

So here are my split times for my swim yesterday:
7:57 for what must have been only 8 laps, but I think it was really 9 but I can't justify the speed
8:54 for 9 laps (411 meters)
7:02 for 7 laps
for a total of 23:52 for 24 laps or 1097 meters
I did swim for anothe 2 laps but I didn't have the watch on.

So today's run was going to be a tempo run around downtown. We had excellent weather today and it's almost springtime weather. So, I ran the first two miles, what felt pretty good, but were fairly slow for what I had wanted. I didn't let it get me down though, I kept running along and on my way back, I thought that I was pretty far along but that didn't jive with my time.

After thinking about it for a while I total skipped a whole section of mile 3 on my run. I totally missed it because I had to weave through traffice that I missed about 0.3 of a mile or so… I was so upset that I stopped and walked some. I tried to regain my composure because I was a little upset that I done that and missed that mileage. I also was able to come up with a hypothesis on why I was running slower and why my legs felt like lead weights… I haven't been eating much the last few days.

I didn't mention it, but I felt lousy on the 4th. I barely ate anything. Then yesterday, I didn't really eat my lunch and dinner wasn't all that much either. So, my calorie intake has not been what it should be for the amount of exercise or the level of performance I want to achieve. This is the same reason why in 2003 when I was on a low-carb diet I suffered greatly in my running… oh it was bad and one month of that diet and it took me 2 months to regain my performance again. I was 19 lbs lighter than when I started but my 5k time was 2 minutes slower than before.

So, I have to map out to see what my true mile 3 distance is before I post the times but the total time was 32:31.

Okay, I am off to go get cupcakes for a birthday party
