Tuesday Run

Today was alot less wet that yesterday but about the same temperature. When I ran by the thermometer downtown, it read 68 degrees. Not bad for a mid/late June day at 12:30. I ran 4 miles today. 3 of which I ran at a tempo pace that would be 5-10 seconds slower than my race pace. It was confortable and I was able to keep the pace steady even despite the terrain. The last mile I did take the option of making it a recovery mile. I actually walked the first 2 minutes of the mile, just to let my body relax and catch up, but then I ran an easy pace for the rest of run. I am pretty please with my effort. I knew that I could go faster, especially for a 5k. Now, for the 4 miles at Tellico on July 9th, I think that the 8:00 pace is more realistic, but more on that later.

Here are my split times:

Split Split Distance Overall Distance Split Time Split Pace Overall Time Comments
1 1.0 1.0 8:03 8:03
2 1.0 2.0 7:58 16:01
3 1.0 3.0 8:07 24:08
4 1.0 4.0 10:00 34:08  This last mile I decided to run as a recovery mile.

Now, I sure wish that I had my PhD because then my follies with my workout bag could be explained as the absented minded professor. Yes, there was something wrong today with my workout bag. Now, I did bring it! and I brought extra towels, shirts, and short from home. No, I did not stock my car yet… I have to do laundry tonight, so that will happen then. But, what was absent from my workout bag was my toiletry bag. No scented bodywash/shampoo, No deodorant, No Pomade, No Pretty Water… just the hand soap from the sink area was all I had today. Can I live with it… yes… I guess. When will the madness end.

Tomorrow… 1200 meter swim.
