I was going NUTS with my photoblog. I was getting SPAM faster than a Monty Python sketch. The spam “cleaner” that is included in pixelpost is a reactive spam blocker in that it will only clean comments that have part of a URL that you add to the banlist. And this does not always work. So you are manually cleaning it out one comment at a time. It had gotten so bad that I went into the actually database and deleted scores of them at a time.
Speak of the devil… as I was writing that paragraph, I got some spam from my good friend Nivek:
lipitor_vs_zocor buy renova efexor xr zoloft zyban melatonin_for_child zyprexa zydis dexedrine acyclovir buy xenical hydrocodone interaction klonopin hycomine percocet eminowhich
This one was actually one that I could post since most of the other ones are, errrrrrrr, adult orientated. I was actually trying to disable comments for my photoblog as I was spending too much time deleting comments. Then, I found the upgrade to v1.5.
I can't say that the spam remover works any better, but you can clear out multiple comments, so this will make things much more manageable.
And on another subject about blogging. I am thinking about moving this blog over to another URL and using WordPress. The advantage, to you as a non LJ user, is that you could put in your name and not remain anonymous or forget to put the name in the post. I would lose the Voicepost Wednesday aspect, which was nice for the marathon. So… I dunno. Perhaps. I did pay for LJ name change and still have 6 months of paid features. I guess I am in the committee mode on that right now.
