(and up to date) WOO-HOO
Today was BrRRrRRrRRrrrrrr cold. The temperature was a balmy 44 degrees, but it was the cutting 19 mph wind that really cut to the bone during the run. Thank GOODNESS, I tossed in some extra clothes this morning, or else I might had been a popsicle (I already am a Pop) if I hadn't been layered correctly. I had a LS Coolmax shirt, then a LS cotton shirt, and then a fleece vest. I wore a hat for part of the run, but once behind a building and shielded from the wind, it was warm. I brought gloves but never wore them.
I went out on my normal running route, but decided that I would take a meandering route around downtown. I figured that if I was running around buildings that the wind wouldn't be bad and that the people around would make the time seem faster. Both things can to pass. I was pleased. It wasn't until the last mile that I had headwind strong enough to make me walk. And get this, I was getting a tailwind UP a hill… HELLO?! Why can this happen at a race?
I managed to crank out 4.75 miles at Lunchtime and only be a little late getting back to the office. Of course, if I had brought a normal TOWEL… I could have dried off faster. Sheesh, what I am going to do? my oh my. I am not going to put split times today…
