I have found a new shoe company out there for the runner. The name of this company is called Vitruvian and they have “gone back to the basics” in their running shoes.
Vitruvian offers 3 different types of shoes: Proportion, Symmetry and Harmony. Each of these high quality shoes are made specifically for a certain type of runner. Exactly how the big shoe companies make their shoes. What you will notice is that they don't make a gender specific shoe. Say what? That's right… one gender and you just buy the size that is ready for you!
Last November I bought the classic Symmetry. Why? because they were inexpensive. Actually the most current model will cost you $60 which is inexpensive compared to the Big companies such as Asics, New Balance, Mizuno, etc. As of this post, they have still have the classic models that are half-off… yes $30!!! So, I bought my current pair of Symmetry and here is what I think about them.
I love them! They are not the flashiest of shoes… they aren't eye candy. As of today, I have logged 28 miles on them and have had NO problems what so ever. And for Terry, 28 miles is 11% of the miles in a shoe's lifetime. I am so hard on shoes, because I am a heel striker, that I can destroy the heel of a shoe within 200 miles when the rest of the shoe is still fine. So far, the Vitruvian is showing the same wear as my GT2080s.
Apart from all the gizmos and gadgets that a runner can have attached to them like a Borg from Star Trek, shoes should be the biggest investment in your running. Vitruvian can make that impact on the investment much less and give you more cash to pay for those ever increasing entry fees!
